Looking for a Research Assistant (30–40%) for the ZuReach Project
We are hiring a Research Assistant (30–40%) starting March 2026 for the DIZH-funded project «ZuReach – Zurich Urban Reachability & Accessibility Enhancement through Digital Technology», led by Hoda Allahbakhshi. The project explores how digital and spatial data can improve urban accessibility for people with mobility restrictions in Zurich (and potentially Winterthur).
Your Responsibilities
Tasks related to the execution and analysis of the ZuReach project will include, but are not limited to:
- Participation in the design, planning, and implementation of the project
- Development of various materials in German and English
- Contribution to participant recruitment, scheduling, and instruction
- Doing research on data quality assessment and helping with analyzing the collected datasets
Your Profile
We are looking for a highly motivated and open-minded researcher with a passion for science and an independent, efficient, organized, and effective work style, with the following profile:
- Background in Geography, GIScience, Computer Science, or Data Science
- Strong skills in data analysis & programming (e.g. Python, R, SQL)
- Excellent English and German required

The position is a fixed-term employment (30-40%) with a start from March 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter and a duration of a maximum of 8 months. The workplace is at the premises of the Digital Society Initiative (Rämistrasse 69, 8001 Zurich), or Department of Geography (Winterthurerstrasse 190, 8057 Zurich), University of Zürich.
