Conference ILANSCO

From September 9th to 11th, the University of Zurich hosted the ILANSCO Conference - Interdisciplinary Perspectives on Landscapes in Language, Society and Cognition 2024.

Call for papers: ILANSCO 2024

The event has been organized by two members of the Geocomputation group (Sara Racca and Philipp Striedl), along with Cristiana Lucchetti and Aleksej Tikhonov (Department of Slavonic Studies).
The conference focused on exploring the perception of landscapes from different perspectives and approaches, and intended to provide an opportunity for researchers from diverse fields to share their insights and foster collaboration.

The event brought together over 60 participants from more than 20 countries and featured 40 presentations from a wide range of disciplines, including Geography and GIScience, Urban and Environmental Studies, Psychobiology, Sociology, Anthropology and Ethnology, Linguistics, Language and Literature, Art History, Semiotics, and History. The presentations, as well as informal discussions, resulted in an engaging and dynamic exchange of ideas, with a shared commitment to organizing future events in the same direction.

The organizers are thankful to all participants and supporters, including the Geocomputation unit, for making the event possible.
