She presented her paper on the panel titled ‘Ethnic politics and marginal spaces in post-war Sri Lanka’ chaired by Dr. Deborah McFarlane. Her paper discussed the ways in which ‘others’ are produced through language in the hybrid community in Paanama arguing that ‘othering’ emerges not from the ethnicity but from the language by which a new form of categorization of caste has manifested in Paanama.
