On 28 and 30 January, Benedikt Korf gave a lecture in memoriam of Professor Shahul Hasbullah at the International Centre for Ethnic Studies (ICES) in Colombo and Kandy respectively.
Professor Hasbullah, who passed away on 25 August 2018, was a frequent visitor and long-time collaborator of our group. In the lecture, Benedikt Korf presented some of Hasbullah’s late research on the politics of boundary demarcations in eastern Sri Lanka. The lecture was chaired by Professor Jayadeva Uyangoda in Colombo and Professor Tudor Silva in Kandy.
