To increase IT network security Network Access Control (NAC) was introduced at UZH.
This means: only devices with either an authorized login (username and password) or devices that are registered with GIUZ IT (special cases) can connect to the wired UZH IT network in building Y25 (actually on the whole campus).
Why do we need Network Access Control?

Remember: NAC needs only be configured for devices, that are connected via Ethernet (i.e. wired) to the network in building Y25 (or elsewhere on campus).
Mobile phones, tablet computers, etc. and notebooks that exclusively connect via WiFi (WLAN) do not need a NAC configuration. Same applies to all IT equipment you need in your home office.
