Maude Barlow, activist and co-initiator of the worldwide "Blue Community" movement gave an impressive talk at GIUZ. At the Dies Academicus she received the honorary doctorate of the Faculty of Science in recognition of her commitment to the human right to water and its sustainable use.
Maude talked about the need to stop seeing water as an endless resource. She strongly warns against leaving this resource to the open market for sale. “Water must be protected in law for all time by democratic governance, it’s an issue of justice!” Maude expressed her hope to “turn the world blue” and called for action: “Don't sit around, do something! And have faith that others do the same.”
You can find the poster exhibition at Campus Irchel, building 25, H floor. It focuses on the four principles of the Blue Community initiative as well as current water issues in Switzerland and globally (in German).
