While the threat posed by climate change is well recognized, the loss of species diversity is less so. The neglected issue takes center stage, however, at the World Biodiversity Forum in Davos.
Next week around 500 researchers from around the world will meet in the Swiss Alps to discuss biodiversity protection strategies. The conference is intended to generate “new impetus and ideas around the topic of biodiversity", says Cornelia Krug. "We need a citizens’ movement to protect biodiversity – similar to Fridays for Future and the youth climate movement."
The University Priorirty Program Global Change and Biodiversity and the international research network bioDISCOVERY are organising the conference. Both are based at the Department of Geograph, UZH.
