13.02.2020#15: Exploring the future of biodiversity

What kind of future do we want for biodiversity? Researchers, practitioners, decision-makers and societal actors will discuss at the World Biodiversity Forum in Davos. Numerous GIUZ members are involved in the organisation of the event.

The World Biodiversity Forum provides a platform for exchange, covering a wide range of perspectives, and capturing a diversity of visions. It aims to redefine and set the agenda for biodiversity as a focal point over the next 10 years in current themes and topics across different sectors.

"New Deal for Nature"

The World Biodiversity Forum supports the "New Deal for Nature" to be forged by the Convention on Biological Diversity at the end of 2020. It is aligned with Sustainable Development Goals and achievement of which will require the involvement of all sectors/societal actors, societal consensus and collective search for solutions to conserve biodiversity.

• more than 450 participants from 61 countries, from the poles to the tropics.

The World Biodiversity Forum is organised by the international research network bioDISCOVERY, and the University of Zurich Research Priority Programme Global Change and Biodiversity. Both are hosted at the Department of Geography, UZH.
