We are interested in both urban studies and financial geography – and their intersection. Our research is concerned with inequalities and challenges that arise in cities, particularly in housing markets, and the role of different forms of knowledge and expertise in navigating those challenges. This includes exploring financial dynamics: what returns are sought? How can these be aligned with wider objectives beyond pure financial returns? How are decisions, based on the ethics of finance, translated into urban processes and practices – and what are the socio-political consequences?
At this time, in addition to academic research on urban planning, financial geographies and housing, we are working with external partners to propose the re-design of ESG for urban real estate in Switzerland.
