About Loé

Loé Maire is a PhD student in the Remote Sensing of Water Systems (RSWS) group as well as in the Remote Sensing group at Eawag (the Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology). Loé holds a BSc and an MSc in Environmental Sciences and Engineering, specializing in water, soil, and ecosystem engineering from EPFL (École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne), Switzerland. Her current research focuses on identifying phytoplankton taxonomic groups in eutrophic peri-alpine lakes using remote sensing technologies, combining ground- and satellite-based observations.

What excites me most about my work at RSWS

I’m fascinated by the exploration of environmental processes across diverse temporal and spatial scales - an essential approach for understanding climate change, which can be addressed through remote sensing. Within RSWS, I am deepening my expertise in remote sensing while staying closely connected to the hydrosphere domain. Being part of such an interdisciplinary team is incredibly enriching; the ongoing support and knowledge exchange within RSWS foster a dynamic learning environment. It’s inspiring to work alongside passionate researchers who are driven to contribute to a better understanding of our planet’s changing systems.
