Livia Piermattei and Francesco Ioli took part in their first conference as members of our team! They attended the 28th Alpine Glaciology Meeting, held on February 27–28, 2025, in Innsbruck, Austria.
The melting ice from glaciers worldwide is leading to an increased loss of regional freshwater resources. And it is causing global sea levels to rise at ever-greater rates. Since the year 2000, glaciers have been losing 273 billion tons of ice annually, according to estimates by an international research community led by researchers of the University of Zurich, of which Livia Piermattei was part.
On February 1st 2024, Livia Piermattei started her position as Assistant Professor in Remote Sensing of Environmental Changes, a new research group within the Remote Sensing Laboratories at the Department of Geography, University of Zurich.
