What is the impact of natural landscapes on our wellbeing? To understand this, we study how positive emotions denote values of a place.

Using landscape descriptions, we extract aspects related to positive emotions. In this case study, we use 33790 descriptions in the Cairngorms National Park. We used text processing methods to identify positive sentiment. We reduced the influence of prolific users and ambiguous positive words. Also, we apply lexicon transducers with speech sequences to detect semantic patterns. The findings revealed 524 positive cases. We grouped the objects that embedded positive emotions. We obtained classes that capture different ways human value the locations. For example: activities (e.g., picnic, walking, swimming); aesthetics (e.g., clarity, view, visibility); features (e.g., bridge, birch, lochan, path), places (e.g. area, location, spot), and times (e.g. afternoon, day, September)
