This new Horizon Europe+SERI+UK Research and Innovation project aims to develop the workflow on how to respond to Science and Policy Needs for Biodiversity and Ecosystem Change monitoring and Attribution towards science-based solutions over the next 4 years.
Our contribution is to develop uncertainty budgets that are transferable across remote sensing platforms and biodiversity metrics that can then be used to inform policy targets, develop Essential Biodiversity Variables and inform restoration actions locally and at the European Union level. Led by the University of Zurich, WP4 will assess the uncertainty related to biodiversity products, create uncertainty budgets and tree diagrams for different EBVs and species distribution models, and identify the sources of uncertainty and their propagation. This information will be used to improve the understanding of ecosystem vulnerability and our capacity to measure it, allowing for better and more robust prioritization and planning of restoration.
