Sky glow on the Adriatic coast of Croatia

Light pollution is caused by atmospheric scattering and is suspected to impair bird migration. Over the Adriatic Sea, birds migrate in spring towards the north-east and approach the coast from the sea (green triangle). Using ornithological BirdScan radar (pink dots) and weather radar (red areas), we will observe bird migration and its impairment by light pollution in spring 2023. (Image: Simon Hirschhofer)
