March 21 is World Glacier Day

A diverse program at the intersection of research, art and virtual reality offers insights into current glacier research at ETH's main building, including several contributions from the Department of Geography: exhibitions, lectures, interactive stations, and much more.

View the program

Glacier Experience is a virtual reality tour that uses the Morteratsch Glacier as an example to illustrate the connections between climate change, glacier dynamics, and the water cycle.

Glacier Lifelines focuses on the glaciers of Central Asia: an interactive VR journey into a threatened world that reveals how meltwater shapes the daily lives of millions of people—from energy and agriculture to drinking water and security.

Researchers provide insights into their work, for example for Glacier Monitoring Switzerland and the World Glacier Monitoring Service—from glacier retreat to the consequences for our climate.

Also: guided tours of the exhibition  Entgletscherung – Die Vermessung des Eises, storytelling sessions, and an audiovisual installation.
