Hanna Hilbrandt started her position as an Assistant Professor for Social and Cultural Geography on 1 March 2020. Her research focuses on urban development and planning, informality and housing marginalization as well as on socio-spatial inequalities in the context of globalizing financial markets.
Prior to joining the University of Zurich, she served as a visiting professor in International Planning Studies at the Dortmund School of Spatial Planning and as a postdoctoral researcher at the Hafen CityUniversity Hamburg. Holding a PhD in Geography from the Open University (UK) and having an additional background in Urban Studies and Architecture, she will strengthen the research and teaching activities in the Human Geography Thematic Area of the Department of Geography.
