We mourn the loss of our esteemed former colleague Prof. Harold Haefner. He passed away on 10 October 2022 at the age of 89.
Harold Haefner received his doctorate from UZH in 1963 and was a professor at the Department of Geography from 1969. He laid decisive foundations for the development of remote sensing at GIUZ and was one of the co-founders of the "Remote Sensing Laboratories", one of the world's leading research and teaching institutions in the field of digital earth observation.
Harold remained closely connected with GIUZ throughout his life. We met him on many occasions as an always interested emeritus and appreciated exchanging ideas with him.
We will keep Harold in grateful memory. His work will remain recognisable in the future.
