Conradin A. Burga studied Physical Geography at the University of Zurich (Diploma 1976) and Botany at the University of Basel (PhD 1980). After a Postdoc at the Botany School (now the Plant Sciences Dept) of Cambridge University, Great Britain, he joined the Department of Geography, University of Zurich (Professor 1996 - 2012). His research and teaching covered Quaternary glacier, climate and vegetation history of the Swiss Alps and Biogeography (plant ecology and vegetation mapping).
